Axi Recruitment are working with a well known client based in Hull and recruiting for a Senior Development Manager to join their expanding team.


Job Details

Project Management

•Reporting directly to the Associate Director (Developments), supporting all aspects of project delivery as required

•Leading delivery of a range of projects from conception through design development, budget setting and management, stakeholder engagement, communications, planning, legal, funding and property matters, to financial close and onwards through delivery

•Providing clear leadership to supply chain members to ensure productive team working, efficient pricing, and meeting quality expectations

•Setting clear programmes and assist in managing delivery in line with programme, budget and quality expectations

•Understanding and managing risk throughout to protect and minimise exposure to companies and its clients

•Working alongside clients and consultants throughout the design and development stages of projects, providing advice and guidance when required on elements such as funding, legal, planning and procurement

•Support in the production of board reports and performance reports against Business Plan KPI’s

•Actively seeking and leading new development opportunities with existing and new customers, for delivery via traditional and non-traditional funding models, joint ventures etc.

Client/Customer liaison

•Promoting and presenting a professional personal and corporate brand in all dealings.

•Developing and nurturing successful and rewarding relationships with colleagues and the supply chain.

•Listening and understanding the client’s needs and developing new and existing client relationships.

•Ensuring a working environment exists where complete client satisfaction is at the forefront of every team member’s mind.


•Support and deliver the company Business Plan.

•Support and work within companies ISO 9001:2015 quality management system.

•Support and work within companies Integrated Management System/Policies.

•Support the development of junior team members and graduates.


•Salary dependent on experience

•Hold a formal degree qualification (or 10+ years relevant experience) linked to the built environment or project management.

•Excellent track record of pre and post development project delivery and programme management in the built environment.

•A full, valid UK driving licence and own transport.

•Excellent listening and communication skills.

•Excellent organisation skills with the ability to prioritise tasks accordingly, meet set deadlines and work with multiple ongoing projects and tasks.

•Logical thinker who is able to work with a wide range of stakeholders to assess problems and formulate options to deliver a solution

•The ability to work as a team member in a busy working environment, but also the ability to work unsupervised.

•The ability to learn and work with new technology and software.

•Excellent decision-making skills.

•An excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office packages, in particular Project, Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

•Have effective and efficient time management skills.

•Awareness of the importance of confidentiality.

•Have a thorough approach/high levels of attention to detail and accuracy.

•Be able to implement new and improved ways of working.

•Flexibility to work on strategic commissions in the inception/concept stages of a programme/project in advance of project development.

•Experience of feasibility study and option appraisal development.

•Working experience of the planning application/consultation process as well as a variety of development delivery frameworks.

•Experience of working directly with public and private sector clients.

•Experience of project transactions and supporting contract/legal procedures.

•Flexibility to work as an extended member of client teams.



•Experience of working within health, social care and education sectors

•Knowledge of specialist guidance i.e. HTM’s, HBN’s, Building Bulletins, etc.

•Working knowledge of LIFT, PFI or Procure 23 or other related frameworks

•Experience of project transactions and supporting contract/legal procedures

•Knowledge of contract management software, i.e. Sypro

•PMO Experience and understanding of good practice

•Membership of an appropriate professional body
